Lesson1

FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT I AM WRITING THE BLOG IN ENGLISH.  IT WOULD NORMALLY BE WRITTEN THE LANGUAGE OF THE STUDENT FOR PARENTS TO UNDERSTAND.

IN THIS EXAMPLE IT WOULD BE WRITTEN IN GERMAN.

Dear parents

Our book this month is The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson.  It is a much loved book and I'm sure you may have heard of it.  It has been translated into German -

and it even has it's own website in German http://www.grueffelo.de/

We started our lesson this week by revising the names of animals by first of all guessing the animal from the noise it makes.

Here is another game to play at home.
http://www.fisherprice.com/en_GB/GamesAndActivities/OnlineGames/littlepeopleanimalsoundsgame.html.
When you hear the sound of the animal you have to click on the correct animal.

We talked about where animals come from, what they eat and we described what they look like.  If you look at our class homepage you will find more to practise at home.

www.students.ncl.ac.uk/l.briegel-jones and go to Lesson 1.

We also created our own talking animals using http://blabberize.com/ These were very funny and I'll post these on our site by next week.

The exercises that we covered in class are also in Lesson 1 for your child to practise.

The homework this week is to finish the animal exercises on the school English page, lesson 1, activities 1 and 2.  Then look at the homework section for lesson one.  You need to go to www.switcheroozoo.com  and your child can create their own fantasy creature.  Once they have made their creature they need give it a name and then describe their animal; where it lives, what it eats, what it likes, what it can do etc.  Save as photo and then print it out.  If you don't have access to a printer, your child can use the school computers any day after school. This will be continued in the next lesson.

Another great website to extend the topic is www.buildyourwildself.com
